XXX. International Horticultural Congress (IHC2018)
The 30th International Horticultural Congress (IHC2018) was held in Istanbul-Turkey from 12-17 August 2018.
Almost 1800 participants from more than 90 countries attended the congress. The program featured 9 plenary lectures, 67 keynote speakers, more than 950 oral and 750 poster presentations in the opening session, 2 Colloquia, 39 symposia and 11 workshops. The aim of the symposia was to bring together scientists from all over the world, facilitating the networking and discuss future perspectives.
The G2P-SOL partners Ramazan Ozalp, Aylin KABAS, Ibrahim Celik, Abdullah Unlu and Hatice Filiz Boyaci (BATEM) attended the conference and presented the project activities during the session S20-Plant Breeding in Horticulture (2nd International Symposium).
The BATEM team spoke about:
“Collection, Identification and conservation for sustainability of traditional local pepper genotypes”
“Determination of some morphological and quality traits of Turkish local tomato genotypes”
“Search for resistance to Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)”
“Identification of traditional eggplant heirlooms for conservation and sustainable commercial production”
The participation in the symposium was very useful to facilitate the exchange between breeders, agronomists and geneticists in order to continue the positive trend towards crop improvement through plant breeding and genetics.
