Pomopoulus Summer School at UPV
 
One of the aims of G2P-SOL is disseminating knowledge to the society about the importance of the diversity in solanaceous crops for human nutrition and of studying and conserving their genetic resources.
Taking advantage of the enormous diversity present in tomatoes in G2P-SOL materials for shapes, sizes, colours and flavours and its diversity, the “Pomopoulus” activity, aimed at children (9-10 years old) from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) Summer School, has allowed displaying a large diversity of tomatoes for children, who discovered that diversity of tomatoes is not only funny in terms of shape, size, colours and flavor, but also that conserving their diversity is conserving a legacy of former generations and important for ensuring the future availability of food.
